Well, I have to say that today is only my second time to administer this sweet new miracle drug, but I am already dancing all over my house in excitement with how much it has been a life-changer for me!
What is pretty amazing is that it is in a completely different class of drugs altogether. It is NOT a Triptan, which Triptans completely doesn't work for me and haven't for a decade; it's not even related to the vessel constrictors. Now I'm not a health care professional or a doctor, so be sure to ask your health care provider for true medical advice when contemplating which drugs are best for you. Triptans may be the very best option for your migraines.
But in my own words and knowledge from taking them for years, it is that basically Triptans are not preventatives and are taken upon getting a migraine but have to be taken immediately upon feeling the pain roll in. They constrict your blood vessels and are not always the first or best choice if you have heart or blood pressure issues. However, high blood pressure or worsening of high blood pressure has happened with people who have taken Aimovig.
I also want to throw in here real quick that I am NOT receiving any kickbacks or in partnership with Amgen/Aimovig/Novartis in exchange for my positive reviews, blogs, vlogs, or social media posts. I am only speaking from 100% experience thus far. I have suffered from migraines for 23 years. I have lost the quality of about half of my life in the 10 years due to the debilitating pain from this monstrous disease. June 22, 2020 Aimovig Injection #1
Before starting Aimovig for the first time on June 22, 2020, I'd had 35 migraines in 55 days. The pain was excruciating, and it wasn't easy to work and feel like I could fully enjoy my everyday routine. I still did everything I needed to do, but it just wasn't comfortable.
July 22, 2020, Aimovig Injection #2
Between June 22nd and July 22nd, I only had 7 migraines, and I could only really deem 3 of them true migraines. 4 of them felt like "plain old" headaches! I must say it has been pretty amazing, and I feel like I have my life back.
Not only did I have WAY fewer migraines, but the pain level was extremely reduced as well. I am definitely doing the jig around here like crazy! Thankfully I have not had any side effects *yet*. As my mama always says, I will stop borrowing trouble and hope they don't come. Although I have had some other health issues arise, I have been able to attack them head-on with a nice, clear, and pain-free mind!

Between August 22, 2020, and September 23, 2020, I only had 1 true painful migraine, but I had 3 days of symptoms like extreme fatigue and some minor pain in my eye socket.
I also had 5 minutes of anxiety one of those nights when I thought about having a migraine and not even realizing that I was having one, but then I breathed through it and was ok and the anxiety dissipated as quickly as it came on.

Between September 23, 2020, and October 23, 2020, I had 2 painful migraines and a week of Prodrome, which is the time period before the migraine pain actually hits.
